The Taian TA5450 is a Chinese special wheeled chassis with 8x8 configuration. Sometimes it is referred as TAS5450. This vehicle was developed by Taian Special Vehicle Company to carry various missiles, launchers with artillery rockets and other military equipment. It seems that this vehicle evolved from the Taian TA5380 8x8 special wheeled chassis. Currently it is used by the Chinese armed forces. This vehicle has good cross-country mobility and can travel over difficult terrain. It carries DF-15B and DF-15C short-range ballistic missiles and A200, A300 and WS2 artillery rocket systems. It is possible that the TA5450 is also used for other roles. The TA5450 has a full-time all-wheel drive. It is fitted with a central tyre inflation system. Tyre pressure can be adjusted by the driver while the vehicle is on the move in order to improve cross-country performance over different types of terrain. |

It was specially developed to carry missiles, large-caliber artillery rockets, and other weapons and military equipment, such as radars. Currently the TA5380 is used by the Chinese armed forces. It is used as a TEL vehicle for HQ-9 air defense missile system. Vehicle is powered by a Deutz turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is license-produced in China.
